Research Projects/Interests
Dr. Burmeister’s clinical and research interests are primarily in development and implementation of new technology in radiation oncology, incorporation of biological information in the optimization of radiotherapy treatments, and clinical application of particle radiotherapy. He is also heavily involved in education and training of both medical physicists and radiation oncology residents.

Career Highlights
Dr. Burmeister has served on numerous clinical, education, and research committees and task groups for the AAPM, ASTRO, ABR, and SDAMPP, including serving as chair of the AAPM Committee on Medical Physicists as Educators, the ASTRO Physics Core Curriculum Subcommittee, and the ABR Radiation Oncology Physics Examination Committee. He has been elected Fellow of the AAPM.
